Benefits Of The Royal Charter

This certification functions like a Halal or Fair Trade label, demonstrating that a company operates ethically and in alignment with African traditional governance principles:

  • Boosts Business Reputation: Shows respect for African heritage and traditional governance.

  • Creates Stronger Market Access: Companies with the Royal Charter gain trust in traditional markets and rural economies.

  • Access to RACC’s Network: Connect with traditional leaders, government, and community economic projects.

Credibility Statement

Governance and Management of Funds

The Royal Authority for Commerce and Charters (RACC) is a registered Non-Profit Company (NPC 2025/195185/08), incorporated in terms of the Companies Act, 2008, and subject to annual independent audit.

Contributions are not transferred to individuals for personal use. All disbursements are made in accordance with approved budgets, contracts, and governance processes to ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship.

This governance framework is implemented through clearly defined roles and responsibilities, set out below:

  • RACC (Royal Authority for Commerce and Charters) serves as the administrative and operational platform supporting recognised traditional leadership and customary communities in South Africa.

  • ROLESA (Royal Leaders of South Africa), a collective of recognised kings and traditional leaders, provides customary authority and strategic guidance, while RACC manages implementation within a lawful and professionally governed framework.

  • CIBA (Chartered Institute of Business Accountants) independently manages the financial administration and oversight. Funds are administered within a controlled structure and applied to approved initiatives, operational costs, advocacy work, and professional services required to carry out the mandate.
